SASSA Confirms R10 Social Grant Increase for October 2025

Social grant amounts rises by R10 in October, ensuring all beneficiaries receive payments on time.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed that social grant amounts will increase in the October 2025 payment cycle.

This adjustment follows an earlier announcement by Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana during the 2025/26 Budget Speech, which outlined a significant social grant increase from April 1, 2025, and a smaller increase from October 1, 2025.

From October, social grant amounts will increase by R10: old age grants will rise from R2 310 to R2 320, old age grants for those aged 75 and older will increase from R2 330 to R2 340, the war veterans grant will increase from R2 330 to R2 340, and both disability and care dependency grants will rise from R2 310 to R2 320.

SASSA CEO Themba Matlou welcomed the increase, describing it as a crucial measure to support beneficiaries.

“This reaffirms the government’s commitment to protecting the most vulnerable in society, easing financial burdens, and cushioning them against economic hardships,” Matlou said.

He also confirmed that the October payment cycle will proceed without interruption, ensuring all eligible beneficiaries receive their grants on time.

Social grant payments for October 2025 will be processed as follows: old age grants on October 2, disability grants on October 3, and children’s grants on October 6.
